Apprentice Fitter Fabricator

We currently have a vacancy for a hardworking and enthusiastic person to join our team as an Apprentice Fitter Fabricator. 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, hard working and motivated persons who live within daily commuting distance of works in Thurso.  (You must have means of transport available to you to enable you to get to work at our start time.)

The position is for a 4-year apprenticeship based at our workshops in Thurso.  You can expect few days to be the same with the opportunity to work on a diverse range of large and small projects which will include all aspects of: fitting, machining, fabrication, welding, maintenance and installation works.

Hours are Monday to Friday: 40 hr week (7.45am to 4.15pm)

We’re all a dedicated team here and as such we expect our Apprentices to be too. You must be motivated, pay attention to detail, welcome guidance and instruction, and have excellent communication skills and a drive to produce the best results you possibly can.  If you don’t like physical work, taking instruction, or getting your hands dirty then this isn’t the job for you!

Minimum requirements are a National 4 Qualification in Maths, along with a further 3 National 4 qualifications preferably in a Science, Graphics and English.

Fitter Fabricator

We currently have a full time vacancy for an experienced Mechanical Fitter/Fabricator based at our workshops in Thurso.  The position is for a permanent member of our team and offers the successful candidate a diverse range of work covering: all aspects of fabrication, fitting, tack-up and welding, machining, installation, maintenance, testing.

The post is based at our Thurso workshops but on occasions projects will take you out of the workshops to carry out operations at various clients’ sites.

The successful candidate must be conscientious and precise in their work and have the ability to be a team player as well as being able to work competently on their own initiative.  Flexibility is required as on occasion overtime working may be required a short notice.

Applications are invited from candidates who have served a recognised Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.  Minimum 3 years post apprenticeship experience is preferred.

Hourly rate (based on an annual salary):  circa £34K.  Overtime working paid at enhanced rates.

Annual Leave:  30 days
